The iButton ® is a memory chip which is accommodated in a round high-grade steel housing (d=16mm), like a button battery. He has only two electric contacts: ground and data. About the data connection the power supply is also realized. To pursue this one-wire-bus effectively and certainly, the manufacturer Dallas Semiconductor has developed a protocol such a named Micro-LAN. Each iButton ® has a 64 bits long unique ROM number. This uniqueness for all iButtons ® is guaranteed by the manufacturer and makes it possible to address to each iButton as an absolute unique specimen. The number supply amounts 248, also more than to 1 quintillion. In contrast to solutions used up to now not the lock is unique, because the intelligence lies in the key.
